June 25-28: AASU Department of Art, Music & Theatre presents Rumors by Neil Simon to open its Summer of Murder Mysteries. -- In effort to avoid an embarrassing public relations scandal, affluent guests of a high profile NYC elected official hysterically collude to conceal from police and the media their host's mysterious injury, his wife's disappearance, and his servants' unexpected absence. All the while the guests furiously work to unearth the truths behind the bizarre circumstances that led to his absurd predicament in this uproarious farce. -- Performances are at 7:30 p.m. (3 p.m. only on June 28) in the recently renovated AASU Jenkins Hall Theater. June 28: In "Celebration of our Independence", the Savannah Winds, community wind symphony in residence at AASU, honors America, her service men and women, and veterans of the United States armed forces with its highly popular Annual Patriotic Concert in the AASU Fine Arts Auditorium at 3 p.m. This exciting concert features Major General Anthony Cucolo, Commanding General, 3ID US Army as narrator; WTOC's Bill Cathcart returning as master of ceremonies; 3rd ID honor guard to present our great nation’Äôs colors; and Lieutenant Colonel Kent Shockey, USMC (Retired) to be recognized as reigning Chatham County Veteran of the Year. July 2009July 9-12: AASU Department of Art, Music & Theatre presents The Murderer by Anthony Shaffer as the second of three suspenseful productions in its Summer of Murder Mysteries. -- In this drama mystery, Norman and his girlfriend, Millie, share a twisted interest in the subject of history. As a hobby, they routinely re-enact the most grotesque murders on record. The play begins ghoulishly and without a spoken word to reveal what is apparently the murder of Millie followed by Norman's undertaking to dispose the body inconspicuously. Startlingly, the police interrupt him. We become horrifically uncertain whether we have witnessed a stunning charade or a murder cover-up. An absolute thriller. -- Performances are at 7:30 p.m. (3 p.m. only on July 12) in the recently renovated AASU Jenkins Hall Theater. General admission: Only $10. July 23-26: AASU Department of Art, Music & Theatre presents The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane by Laird Koenig as the final production of its Summer of Murder Mysteries. -- Just the girl next door? Not really... this seemingly innocent thirteen year-old possesses a curious maturity and independent self-confidence that to her east coast, small town neighbors are at the same time unsettling, intriguing and beguiling. She must be hiding something. But what? As interest in her doings intensifies, certain disturbing truths are exposed. Is she safe? Find out. Koenig's thriller may be best known for its 1976 screenplay version starring Jody Foster and Martin Sheen. -- Performances are at 7:30 p.m. (3 p.m. only on July 26) in AASU Jenkins Hall Theater.
