Masquers Resolve Mysterious Proof

AASU MASQUERS OPEN FALL SEASON
Offer 3 Performances of David Auburn's Suspenseful Mystery Proof

This Fall, the AASU Masquers troupe opens its season by reprising Auburn's suspenseful drama Proof for those AASU students, faculty, and members of the Savannah arts community who were unable to attend AMT's Summer production of the same play in July. The troupe presents three performances Friday, August 22nd at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, August 23rd at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, August 24th at 3 p.m. The Masquers present these performances in the cozy setting of AASU's Masquers Chinese Theater (MCT) at Armstrong Center.

Proof: One of the most acclaimed plays of this century, the 2001 Pulitzer Prize and Tony award winning play has been since popularized by the 2005 film version starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Anthony Hopkins. Auburn explores trust and love in human relationships through the perplexingly inseparable connection between genius and madness. The New York Times wrote "an exhilarating and assured new play... accessible and compelling as a detective story."

Performances: Limited Seating; advance ticketing is highly recommended. General admission: Only $10. Discounts available to military, seniors, alumni members, and students/children. AASU staff, faculty, and students presenting valid AASU I.D. will be admitted free of charge. Audience discretion is advised. Call 344.2801 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., weekdays, for ticketing information.

The Masquers Chinese Theater (MCT), located in Armstrong Center (13040 Abercorn Street, Savannah 31419), has served as the temporary home for the Masquers, AASUs student theatre troupe, for eight months now and will continue to host AASU theatre performances until renovation of Jenkins Hall, AASU AMT's permanent theatre home, is complete this coming fall. As homage to the famous Hollywood Boulevard movie theatre known for red carpet events, "A-list" celebrity sidewalk hand prints, and a spectacular Chinese architecture exterior design, the theatre program has converted a vacated Chinese Buffet Restaurant into a welcoming black box theatre environment. Parking is convenient, and the building is wheelchair accessible.
